St Vincent de Paul Christmas Hampers
This is the where all the money from the fundraising work through BCR, the24hr Soccer Marathon,Mince Pie Morning, Santa Letters and Christmas Trees is turned into something physical that makes a difference.
Each year hampers are produced and delivered by Transition Year for St. Vincent de Paul to people in need in the Killinarden area. On Wednesday 20th December trucks of food were unloaded by a huge team of Transition Year Volunteers into the school. Then on Th ursday all this food was laid out and more volunteers walked around the line of food making big hampers. 184 hampers were made in total and this all cost around €17,000. To give you some idea of how big the hampers were; below is a list of what each hamper contained.(Click here for photos)
Finally on Friday 22nd December Transition Year students, their parents and past pupils gave up their time to come into the school and collect the hampers to deliver them to people in need in Killinarden.
Thank you very much to all the students, parents and past pupils for their time but credit is also due to Ms Christina Nulty, Dean of Transition Year, for all her organization of the project.
